Building Resilience: Safeguarding Tourism for a Stronger Future

Disasters are unpredictable โ€” but a resilient tourism industry isn't built in the aftermath, it's built in preparation.

From natural disasters to reputational risks, resilience in tourism extends beyond physical recovery to include business continuity, consumer confidence, and the ability to quickly return to a thriving visitor economy. So, how do we strike the right balance between ensuring consumer safety and restoring tourism numbers after a crisis?

This month, we welcome Dr. Natasha Montesalvo, Principal Consultant โ€“ Destinations, Strategy & Insights at EarthCheck, who will explore the evolving role of disaster preparedness in tourism. Drawing from her experience in strategy, policy, and sustainability, Dr. Montesalvo will provide practical insights on risk management, business recovery, and reputation protection, helping operators navigate the complexities of maintaining trust while rebuilding their visitor base.

โžก๏ธ How can sustainable management practices lead to a more resilient business in the face of a disaster?

โžก๏ธ What tools and strategies can operators use to build resilience through sustainability?

โžก๏ธ What are the first steps towards sustainability and climate action that also strengthen economic and environmental resilience?

This session will take a practical approach, breaking down sustainability and resilience into actionable steps. Operators will leave armed with useful resources, real-world strategies, and a clear path forward โ€” whether you're just getting started or looking to take the next step in your journey.
