As we embrace the winter season, I'm pleased to update you on several important developments in our industry.

Firstly, I invite both Queensland Country Tourism (QCT) members and non-members to attend the official launch of our Queensland Country Destination Management Plan (DMP) next week. This event is a significant milestone for our region's tourism sector, reflecting our collective vision and strategies for sustainable growth. Join us on Tuesday, 25 June 2024, at Potters Boutique Hotel in Toowoomba City, to celebrate this milestone and gain valuable insights into the future direction of our industry.

I would like to extend heartfelt congratulations to Toogoolawah in the Somerset Region for receiving Bronze in the 'Top Tiny Town Tourism Award'. This accolade celebrates communities that excel in delivering outstanding visitor experiences. We are equally proud of Wandoan in the Western Downs Region and Kilcoy in the Somerset Region for their nominations in their respective categories.

Australia's export tourism industry is experiencing a slow but steady recovery, with international holiday maker arrivals now at 74% of 2019 levels. While inbound travel is gradually increasing, Australians are travelling overseas at rates surpassing those of April 2019. Despite the slower-than-hoped for recovery, there is an ongoing positive growth trend.

The Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) 'Queensland is Bluey's World for Real Life' campaign continues to gain momentum, with over 600,000 visits to Queensland.com in the first ten days, generating 120,000 leads for industry conversion. Operators are encouraged to share the competition and leverage the campaign's success. There are still plenty of ways to get involved, so ensure you have a great deal loaded through the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW).

Earlier this month, the Queensland Government released the 2024-25 State Budget, focusing on cost-of-living relief, economic development, and key infrastructure projects. While support measures for small business and tourism were limited, it is pleasing to see increased funding for TEQ, the Growing Future Tourism Program, Bush Tourism, and First Nations tourism initiatives.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to advancing Queensland Country’s tourism industry. I look forward to seeing you at the DMP launch and working together towards a vibrant future for our region.
