Congratulations to the Ballandean Estate team, and the Ridgemill Estate team for their exceptional dedication and innovation in the Queensland wine industry. These achievements are a testament to the high-quality offerings and outstanding hospitality of our region.
The latest International Visitor Survey results are in, and the news is very encouraging. For the first time in five years, total inbound visitor expenditure has reached $46.8 billion, surpassing 2019 levels. Visitors stayed a total of 87.5 million nights, which is 105% of 2019 levels. Notably, China leads in overall visitor trip expenditure at $8.6 billion, while the USA and the UK perform strongest in total leisure spend. India’s expenditure recovery is particularly impressive at 128% of 2019 levels. Business events expenditure has also exceeded pre-COVID levels, reaching $4.57 billion. Additionally, Cathay Pacific will re-start flights between Hong Kong and Cairns from December 17, 2024, adding over 13,000 inbound seats for the peak holiday season.
We are thrilled to be travelling to Singapore in September for the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers display at Singapore's iconic Gardens by the Bay from September 23, 2024. This event offers an incredible opportunity to connect with significant buyers and wholesalers in the South-East Asian market. The display will feature an 850m² garden representing the beauty and tourism opportunities of Queensland Country. In addition to the public launch events, we will host top buyers and wholesalers, showcasing our region's offerings and travel opportunities.
